Dear Bean:
Since the moment I found out you were going to be coming into our lives I have had so much emotion and just didn't know how to express it. So finally after 6 months I have decided on a blog. Now lets backtrack....
Thursday, December 10, 2009, 6:50am- The pee stick says pregnant! Daddy's not home. Mommy's freaking out!
My thoughts....Wow...I have a life inside of me. We have made a miracle. I'm scared and excited and totally shocked all at once. I quick do the calculations and your expected arrival date is sometime in August. Oh man that is going to take foreverrrrrrr.
We wanted to hold the news in but we just couldn't. I told Aunt Lindsey first- she's wanted to be an aunt for as long as I can remember! Then later that night we went and told Nana & Papa. They were just sooo excited!!
I still can't believe it- We're going to be parents!!
Sunday, December 13, 2009- I call Aunt Erin and let her in on the news before Gramma & Grampa come for dinner later. Aunt Erin was thrilled. She is so excited to be an aunt as well.
We gave Gramma & Grampa an early Christmas present which was an ornament that said "Grandparents-To-Be" on it. They were shocked! Gramma was so surpised and just needed a moment to take it in.
Now the week of Dec. 13-19 we started telling the rest of the family and some of our friends. Everyone was so excited which made us even more excited than we already were!!
Saturday, December 19, 2009- Christmas at the O'Connell's. I got really sick. I thought it was morning sickness. I asked you to stop making mommy feel so ill but it didn't work. After 24 hours I ended up in the ER for being so dehydrated. I was so so worried about you in there. I thought for sure I had starved you and wouldn't be in there any longer. But to my surprise you hung on and were in there doing just fine!! Turns out I had a pretty bad UTI causing me to be so sick.
Tuesday, December 29, 2009- I went for my first visit as an OB patient!! It was nothing special, just a pelvic exam. But hearing it from my Dr that I was pregnant made it so much more real and special. Your expected arrival date is August 20th!!
Thursday, January 7, 2010- Daddy and I got our first glimpse of you today! You are just the teeny tiniest little thing. You look like a jelly bean. But to see your heart beating away was the most amazing thing ever. I couldn't wait to see you again! The ultrasound showed your due date to be August 24th, we'll see what our Dr had to say.
From that date on, my clothes start getting tight. Maybe it's psychological since you're so tiny still but I had to start wearing a belly band at only 7 weeks!
Saturday, January 30, 2010- I wore my first pair of maternity pants on this day! Boy are they comfy! You probably feel more comfy in there since my jeans aren't pushing down on you.
February comes and goes and while its flying by I borrowed a Doppler device to try to get your heartbeat at home. I couldn't find it at first and that was so scary and when I did hear a heartbeat I thought for sure it was mine and not yours. I wasn't convinced until I heard it at the Drs.
Yay we're already into the 2nd trimester and my belly starts getting obvious!
March rolls around and we're out and about for St. Patty's Day. Daddy loves how mommy looks pregnant. He thinks I look so cute and he loves that other people think so too.
April comes and its time to see you again!! I am so nervous to see you. At this appointment they will take all your measurements and make sure you are growing like you should be....
Friday, April 2, 2010- Daddy and Gramma meet me at the hospital for the big ultrasound. The ultrasounds tech finds you right away and we have to tell her that we don't want to know your gender. It doesn't matter to us, we will love you no matter what. You weren't being very cooperative when it came to showing your face. You kept covering it with your hands. We were able to get a nice profile and one shot of you looking right at us. You have daddy's nose- it points a little upward. The ultrasound tech knows your gender, but we didn't give in and ask her at the end. She thought we may have to go back for more because you didn't want to fully cooperate. But other than that, you look perfect! You were measuring a little large though....it doesn't surprise me because my belly is HUGE! Your measurements showed you should be due around August 16th....we'll see.
Throughout April I feel you moving. At the ultrasound I was told that my placenta is in front so it would be harder to feel you. So back in March I thought I was feeling you, but wasn't sure. But now I know I am. Daddy has been trying but didn't get to feel until around April 20th. He thought it was very neat!!! I think it really makes it so much more real to him.
Well this is all for now. I will write again Bean.
Love,
Mommy.
