Dear Teagan:
You're practically a teenager now!!
Your birthday party was success! Except it rained. But that didn't ruin our good time!!
Lots of family & friends showed up and we had so much fun! You got sooo many neat gifts! Tons of toys and clothes!! The clothes were much needed for sure. We didn't have any 12-18 month stuff and fall is quickly approaching.
You got lots of cars and trucks and balls! Which is great since you call everything a ball lately and are constantly making vroom noises!
Mommy & Daddy got you a fourwheeler, which you LOVE!! You push the button with your thumb and just cruise right around. You even stand up to drive- just like your daddy. You just need to learn to steer now becuase you only go straight and run into everything.
We went to the pediatrician yesterday for your 12 month well check. You only gained an ounce since our visit a month ago. But you grew a 1/2 inch. You are 29.5 inches tall and you weigh 20 lbs 9 ounces!
They were a little concerned about your lack of weight gain, but I told them you've been very busy lately and that you are eating just fine.
Speaking of eating, the other night for dinner you stayed at the table for over an hour eating. You ate a whole pear, 4 slices of zucchini, 6 pickles & a 1/2 of a cheeseburger! And you could have probably stayed there all night but it was getting late. You're a very good eater lately. You eat everything and a lot of it! But you let us know when you're done eating. You throw it a on the floor and say "ut oh!"
The pediatrician said she wants you to be walking by your next appointment at 15 months! So we have to get practicing. I think you're lazy a lot of the time. She also referred us to a specialist for your eyes. She thinks your tear ducts are clogged. You're one year old and you've never had tears when you cry.
I love you to the moon & back.
Love,
Mommy

Tomorrow Is Your Birthday!!
Dear Teagan:
Tomorrow is your birthday. It's bittersweet really. It makes me think back to last year. At this time last year daddy was nagging me about calling the dr because my contractions were about 3 minutes apart. I remember sitting on the loveseat while he kept dozing in and out. I ate a couple raspberries because I knew I should eat something but I wasn't the least bit hungry. It's crazy that just within a year how much has changed. You went from being curled up in my belly kicking my ribs and doing somersaults, to all of a sudden being this baby that was so fragile & delicate and perfect in everyway. And it seemed like those first couple months took forever to go by. I longed for you to interact with us, and slowly you did. It started with gurgles then smiles and then you started rolling over and sitting up. Then laughing out loud and playing with toys and crawling. And now, as I type this, you sit here on the couch with daddy and I waving and saying hi. It's just amazing.
Now that I've spent the past 20 minutes typing, about this time last year I finally called the doctor. Daddy talked me into it and i was finally ready to believe that you were coming.
As much as those contractions hurt, I would do it a million times over to have you in my life. :-)
I love you to the moon and back baby. Forever and ever.
Love,
Mommy

Planning Your Party!
Dear Teagan:
I can't believe you are going to be ONE next week!! It's crazy!! I've been planning your party for a few weeks now, the only problem is, I haven acted upon these plans! I have all the ideas of decorations and such, but I honestly haven't bought any of the supplies or anything! The theme for your party is construction. The invitations turned out adorable! I'll upload a pic after your birthday when I upload all the other pics! I can't spoil the decoration ideas!!
Right now, you and daddy are snuggled up together in my bed. I couldn't sleep so I got up before I woke you guys. I should be doing some cleaning, but it can wait.
Today looks like it'll be a cooler, cloudy day. Which is fine for me! Although it means you won't be able to go swimming in nana & poppys pool. Which you LOVE! You love water in general. You like to see it coming out of faucets, you like to splash in it in the tub, you like to swim & splash in the big pool and your little pool!
So since it's cool and cloudy, I'm going to make chicken and buscuits for dinner tonight. We haven't had it in a longgggg time since it's been so hot. But, you really liked it last time we had it!!
So the other day you like projectile vomited all over me. It was coming out your nose and mouth at the same time and wasn't the milk spit up that I'm used to, that's for sure! It had chunks of watermelon and raspberries in it. Like I could even see the raspberry seeds all over. Eww. I had just nursed you and we were sitting on the couch looking out the window and then you had your legs around my sides and were facing me and all of a sudden you threw up. So I was like oh no are you okay? And then it happened again one right after another. My shirt and pants were soaked and I could feel it just runnin down my leg. Good thing I didn't throw up also. I called for daddy but he was shaving and couldn't hear. So we ran into the bathroom and both of us stripped down and I put you in the shower with me. That was your second time taking a shower with me. You did last weekend too. Daddy wasn't home and you just get into too much stuff in thr bathroom, so I put you on the floor in there with some plastic blocks and let you play.
Okay, so then Thursday night I notice you have some little bumps on you. You had like 2 on your knees, one on your arm, one by your belly button and one on your neck. I didn't think too much of it, but I pointed them out to dad and that was it. Then Friday Aunt Linny text me a picture of a whole bunch of them on your knee/leg. So then I grew a little more concerned, so me, the crazy mom that I am, runs up the road to the pediatrician's office to show them the picture. I walked in and said to the receptionist- "umm this is going to be really weird, but my son has a rash and I have a picture on my phone and I was wondering if like a nurse or someone could look at it to see if I should bring him in." So they both start laughing and were like sure, she'll take a look. So the nurse standing there said ir must be a full moon or something because she'd had some pretty weird call earlier too. So she came around the other side of the counter and took a look at my phone and I told her about your vomiting and she asked if you'd been exposed to chicken pox and she thought one looked a little blistery so she thought maybe chicken pox. But also maybe viral or insect bites. So since then you haven't gotten anymore and they haven't become blistery looking to me. They do kind look like little pimples, or maybe they are bug bites. We were at grandma's on Wednesday night and you had shorts on and the bugs came out. But they're kind of small to be bug bites. I've heard from a few people that their kids got something similar after a virus.
Well, you're awake now and trying to climb all over me so, I suppose I should wrap this up!
I love you to the moon & back baby!!
Love,
Mommy

6 Months
Dear Teagan:
Wow, so much has happened in the past 6 months! I feel so bad for not keeping track of it all as well as I used to.
Lets see, right after that last post in February you came down with RSV. It was the scariest time ever. You were wheezing and couldn't breathe right and I made you sleep in our room to make sure nothing happened to you. The first night of you being sick I woke up to the sound of you gasping for air. I followed grandma's instructions and ran outside with you wrapped in a blanket. There I was in a tank top and underwear in my barefeet holding you close outside on the snow covered porch. But it worked to get your breath back.
The next day we went to the doctors and they gave you a shot of steriods to help open your air ways and put you on a nebulizer. It was so so sad having to give you that stupid thing. It made to fall asleep at first because you just didn't have the energy to fight it. I felt like I was putting a gas mask on you to make you pass out. I wanted to cry every time.
But you made a full recovery and were good as new in no time.
While you were sick, I got in an accident and smashed my car. Ugh. Stupid snowy roads. Talk about a stressed out mama. Daddy not working, you sick and we stupidly let your health insurance lapse, my car crashed & grandma said if I got a new car I had to get my own car insurance. Oye. It was a rough time. But we're good to go now.
Within a week or so of you getting better, you cut your first tooth. It was on the bottom left. One night you were up multiple times and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what your problem was. All you wanted to do was cry. Then I got up the next morning and decided to put my finger in there to see if maybe I could feel something, and sure enough, there was a tooth poking through.
Then, within 2 weeks, came the second bottom tooth!!
By Memorial weekend, you had 3 teeth on top and 2 on bottom and another top on starting to come through!
So now, you are still at 6 teeth.
Sometimes you think it's funny to bite me while nursing. Yes, we are still nursing. I was able to stop pumping in May. We had a ton of it and we still do actually.
You're eating all sorts of solid foods. Anything from applesauce with cinnamon to manderine oranges to eggsalad sandwiches. Which, you love any type of sandwich it seems. You like all fruits except bananas you don't seem to care much for and you love veggies, particularly zucchini & summer squash.
We grew a garden. We started it indoors in May and then moved it outdoors. Daddy went up the road and got horse manure for it and it has really helped it grow. We have a little pumpkin patch, we had 3 different kinds of peas. Daddy would take you out there on his shoulders and you guys would both have peas in hand when you came back. He always made sure to give you either the snow peas or sugar snap peas so you could eat the pod. You loved them. We also have cucumbers growing. You love those as well. And zucchini, beats, eggplant. green pepper, orange pepper, broccoli & swiss chard. Oh, and cucumber lemon. They're cucumbers that look like lemons. They're good. I was really pleased with how well our garden has grown. Next year it'll be more fun because you'll be able to go out and pick stuff.
On Easter, we weren't home but nana was and Aunt Kim & Uncle Greg went to nana's. While we were gone, Lola went over to nana's as she often did. Well, while over there, she bit cousin Wyette in the face. He had to go to the hospital. It was very sad. After that, daddy and I made the decision to put Lola down. She was too psychotic for anyone else to have her and she wouldn't have done very well. We couldn't crate her or chain her 24/7, so we did what was best for you. I would have never been able to live with myself if she hurt you. It was the hardest decision I'd ever had to make in my whole life. After she was gone though, I felt a weight get lifted off my shoulders. I was anxious for you to start crawling. I was excited for you to play with all your toys. I loved the fact that I could put you on the floor and make dinner or run to the bathroom without worrying that you'd startle Lola and she'd bite you.
You started crawling in like May. But not your average kid crawl. you scoot around on your belly by pulling yourself with your hands and pushing off your tip toes. We thought eventually you'd crawl the normal way, but you haven't yet. Although, we've seen you do it before. We think that it has something to do with the hard wood floors and it being easier for you to just scoot.
Sometimes you sleep in bed with us. I always said I would never do such a thing, but...we do. It doesn't bother me because I know you can sleep by yourself in your own bed or our bed just the same. You're not fussy one way or another. Sometimes we just put you in our bed to fall asleep and then we fall asleep so you just stay there. Other times, you start out in our bed and will cry during the night because you've lost your binky and I'll bring you to our bed so I can get some extra cuddles in.
In April when daddy went back to work you started going to daycare. Aunt Erin's friend Jenn became a certified daycare lady, so you go to her house. She has 2 little girls- Hannah, 4 & Haylee, 2. Also, Brylee goes there. She turned 1 in June. And another little boy goes sometimes and he's 2. You like in there. And daddy and I both like you there. We get a "report card" every day of how much you ate and when and when you took your naps and how you played and all that stuff. So I always know.
On Mother's Day, we set a date for our wedding. Daddy and I will be getting married on September 17, 2011. I went dress shopping with Aunt Erin, Grandma & Nana and picked out the perfect dress for me. We also picked out all the bridesmaid dresses and Aunt Erin's, since she's the maid of honor and we picked out nana's and grandmas.
We figured out where we're having the wedding, whose officiating, where the reception will be, whose decorating, what we're eating, the guy's tux colors, whose in the wedding, a DJ, a limo driver, etc. etc. Now we're only lacking a cake maker and a tux for you. At the tux rental place the smallest size they have is 2T. Which I think will be too big. You're kind of a little guy.
I'm getting really excited. Before it was kind of like ehhh okay we're getting married. But this past weekend my friend was over and I was showing her all the stuff and it got me all excited because she's out photographer and she was all excited so I guess it rubbed off on me!!!
Alright little boy, mama's gotta go pick you up from daycare now!!!!
I love you tons and tons and tons. And I'm sorry that some day when you read this 6 months is missing. I've been a busy mama trying to raise you and work full time and plan a wedding!! :-)
Love you baby.
Love,
Mommy
