Busy Body

Dear Teagan:
Holy cow you are a busy boy these days!! You're so curious of everything and you're also learning to test your limits.
We got rid of your binky last week.
Well, here's how it started.
You had a lingering cold and a cough I just didn't like. So I took you to the doctors the Friday before New Years. I asked if he had any recommendations for your rash around your mouth. He said it wouldn't go away until we took the binky away. Then he proceeded to tell me that I can either be a good mom or your friend and that I'll know I'm a good mom if you tell me at least once a week you hate me. Or I can be your friend and never hear that because I let you do whatever you want to do. So he told me to take you and your binkies down to the Oswegatchie River and give them to the baby fish.
So the plan was to ditch them on Monday since I had Monday off for the holiday. Well, that didn't work. So then Wednesday night on the way home from Jenns you had your binky. As soon as we got home I took it from you and hid it. Then you fell asleep with me on the couch and didn't have one. So when I put you in your crib I put one in with you. When I went to get you out the next morning you were standing up trying to reach over the rail and saying "binky? binky?" There wasn't one on the floor. They had all fallen between the crib and the wall. This is how our conversation went:
Me: Nope, no more binkies.
You: No binky?
Me: Nope, no more binkies.
You: Binky? No binky?
Me: Nope. It's lost. Binky, where are you?
You: Binky, where are you? (which sounded more like "beaky were ahhh oooooh?"
Me: Binky's lost. We have to go now.
You: Go?
Me: Yep, lets go.
You: Coat?

And you were on to getting your coat and hat on to leave. And you haven't had once since. You still ask for one every day, but I either ignore it or sometimes I'll remind you that you don't have one anymore by saying "No more binkies!"
You've done really good. Except Friday night come 1am you woke up frantic and needed one. Nothing would settle you down. I took you to the kitchen and got you some water and that seemed to work. I knew if I put you back in your crib you'd never sleep so I tucked you in between me and daddy. A little while later you woke up all mad about your socks being on because your feet were hot. Once we got those off you slept until 8 the next morning. Then Saturday night you just wouldn't sleep in your own bed. You woke up as soon as I laid you in there and screamed for almost a half hour before I went in to save you. So again, you slept with us.
I decided you always sleep like crap on the weekends. And I'm thinking its because we usually do baths in the morning instead of at night. So it kind of screws up your whole nightly routine.
So we'll go back to baths at night on weekends and see how that goes.

I love you to the moon and back baby. Forever and always.
Love,
Mommy

It's 2012!

Dear Teagan:
Well, the new year has begun.
Christmas was excellent!! We went to grandma's on christmas eve for their normal party. Then we came home & went to bed so Santa Claus could come. You were up at 6:30 so we got up to see what Santa brought! You didn't understand much, but once we showed you that finally you could touch the presents and rip them you got the hang of it. Problem was, you opened your stocking first and it was loaded with Elmo stuff so you didn't care about opening other stuff. But you finally did! You loved everything! You got the zoo talkers and pretty much all the animals for it, an Elmo that teaches you letters, an Elmo book, sippy cup, booboo buddy, toothbrush & toothpaste, a whole set of mini books, a Tag JR, an outfit, Mickey pjs, some interactive book things, a Mickey DVD and I think that's it. You and I made monkey bread together. It's going to be our Christmas morning tradition. Then we got showered as all ready to go and we headed to grandmas again. It was just craziness there! 8 adults & you and everyone exchanging gifts with everyone. Well there you got sooooo much stuff. Your big gifts were an awesome toy box & a 2 person radio flyer wagon. But you got clothes & books & pjs & an Elmo DVD & whoa- It was too much. You are one spoiled little boy! After we had brunch there you were tuckered out! You fell asleep in the car and we just took you, in your carseat still, to your room to sleep. Nana & papa were anxious to see us and get stuff going at their house, but we really needed to wait for your nap to be done. Finally I woke you up after a 2 hour nap and we headed next door. We opened more presents and had an early Christmas dinner. Then Uncle Greg, Aunt Kim and the kids came over and you played with them and your new toys. But you were just tuckered out again.
The New Years eve rolled arouna and daddy and I had plans to go to a party. You had a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpas. You had so much fun with them! On New Years day we went to Aunt Sheilas for a family get together. You hadn't napped all day and were a wild man. You're so entertaining!
I love you to the moon and back baby.
Love,
Mommy
