Dear Teagan:
Wow, so much has happened in the past 6 months! I feel so bad for not keeping track of it all as well as I used to.
Lets see, right after that last post in February you came down with RSV. It was the scariest time ever. You were wheezing and couldn't breathe right and I made you sleep in our room to make sure nothing happened to you. The first night of you being sick I woke up to the sound of you gasping for air. I followed grandma's instructions and ran outside with you wrapped in a blanket. There I was in a tank top and underwear in my barefeet holding you close outside on the snow covered porch. But it worked to get your breath back.
The next day we went to the doctors and they gave you a shot of steriods to help open your air ways and put you on a nebulizer. It was so so sad having to give you that stupid thing. It made to fall asleep at first because you just didn't have the energy to fight it. I felt like I was putting a gas mask on you to make you pass out. I wanted to cry every time.
But you made a full recovery and were good as new in no time.
While you were sick, I got in an accident and smashed my car. Ugh. Stupid snowy roads. Talk about a stressed out mama. Daddy not working, you sick and we stupidly let your health insurance lapse, my car crashed & grandma said if I got a new car I had to get my own car insurance. Oye. It was a rough time. But we're good to go now.
Within a week or so of you getting better, you cut your first tooth. It was on the bottom left. One night you were up multiple times and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what your problem was. All you wanted to do was cry. Then I got up the next morning and decided to put my finger in there to see if maybe I could feel something, and sure enough, there was a tooth poking through.
Then, within 2 weeks, came the second bottom tooth!!
By Memorial weekend, you had 3 teeth on top and 2 on bottom and another top on starting to come through!
So now, you are still at 6 teeth.
Sometimes you think it's funny to bite me while nursing. Yes, we are still nursing. I was able to stop pumping in May. We had a ton of it and we still do actually.
You're eating all sorts of solid foods. Anything from applesauce with cinnamon to manderine oranges to eggsalad sandwiches. Which, you love any type of sandwich it seems. You like all fruits except bananas you don't seem to care much for and you love veggies, particularly zucchini & summer squash.
We grew a garden. We started it indoors in May and then moved it outdoors. Daddy went up the road and got horse manure for it and it has really helped it grow. We have a little pumpkin patch, we had 3 different kinds of peas. Daddy would take you out there on his shoulders and you guys would both have peas in hand when you came back. He always made sure to give you either the snow peas or sugar snap peas so you could eat the pod. You loved them. We also have cucumbers growing. You love those as well. And zucchini, beats, eggplant. green pepper, orange pepper, broccoli & swiss chard. Oh, and cucumber lemon. They're cucumbers that look like lemons. They're good. I was really pleased with how well our garden has grown. Next year it'll be more fun because you'll be able to go out and pick stuff.
On Easter, we weren't home but nana was and Aunt Kim & Uncle Greg went to nana's. While we were gone, Lola went over to nana's as she often did. Well, while over there, she bit cousin Wyette in the face. He had to go to the hospital. It was very sad. After that, daddy and I made the decision to put Lola down. She was too psychotic for anyone else to have her and she wouldn't have done very well. We couldn't crate her or chain her 24/7, so we did what was best for you. I would have never been able to live with myself if she hurt you. It was the hardest decision I'd ever had to make in my whole life. After she was gone though, I felt a weight get lifted off my shoulders. I was anxious for you to start crawling. I was excited for you to play with all your toys. I loved the fact that I could put you on the floor and make dinner or run to the bathroom without worrying that you'd startle Lola and she'd bite you.
You started crawling in like May. But not your average kid crawl. you scoot around on your belly by pulling yourself with your hands and pushing off your tip toes. We thought eventually you'd crawl the normal way, but you haven't yet. Although, we've seen you do it before. We think that it has something to do with the hard wood floors and it being easier for you to just scoot.
Sometimes you sleep in bed with us. I always said I would never do such a thing, but...we do. It doesn't bother me because I know you can sleep by yourself in your own bed or our bed just the same. You're not fussy one way or another. Sometimes we just put you in our bed to fall asleep and then we fall asleep so you just stay there. Other times, you start out in our bed and will cry during the night because you've lost your binky and I'll bring you to our bed so I can get some extra cuddles in.
In April when daddy went back to work you started going to daycare. Aunt Erin's friend Jenn became a certified daycare lady, so you go to her house. She has 2 little girls- Hannah, 4 & Haylee, 2. Also, Brylee goes there. She turned 1 in June. And another little boy goes sometimes and he's 2. You like in there. And daddy and I both like you there. We get a "report card" every day of how much you ate and when and when you took your naps and how you played and all that stuff. So I always know.
On Mother's Day, we set a date for our wedding. Daddy and I will be getting married on September 17, 2011. I went dress shopping with Aunt Erin, Grandma & Nana and picked out the perfect dress for me. We also picked out all the bridesmaid dresses and Aunt Erin's, since she's the maid of honor and we picked out nana's and grandmas.
We figured out where we're having the wedding, whose officiating, where the reception will be, whose decorating, what we're eating, the guy's tux colors, whose in the wedding, a DJ, a limo driver, etc. etc. Now we're only lacking a cake maker and a tux for you. At the tux rental place the smallest size they have is 2T. Which I think will be too big. You're kind of a little guy.
I'm getting really excited. Before it was kind of like ehhh okay we're getting married. But this past weekend my friend was over and I was showing her all the stuff and it got me all excited because she's out photographer and she was all excited so I guess it rubbed off on me!!!
Alright little boy, mama's gotta go pick you up from daycare now!!!!
I love you tons and tons and tons. And I'm sorry that some day when you read this 6 months is missing. I've been a busy mama trying to raise you and work full time and plan a wedding!! :-)
Love you baby.
Love,
Mommy
